Dog-Blooded Love Story 2

A single sword strike splitting his son in two at their very first meeting, that’s unmistakably a real father!

The seven Extraordinaries steadied themselves, took another cautious look, and felt that this godlike figure wasn’t here as some “big boss showing up when the small fry gets beaten”—he seemed more like someone sent to clean up the mess.

Glances were exchanged. Among them, the only member from Hua Country kept winking furiously at Ling Jing.

Ling Jing knew exactly what these Extraordinaries were worried about. It was written all over their faces. “He’s not here to make trouble,” she said, then gently tugged at Qin Jingzhou’s sleeve. “Right?”

Qin Jingzhou smiled. “Mm.” With a sweep of his spiritual sense, he counted 1,080 spiritual coffins here in total, within which 820 Extraordinaries were still present. Of those, 577 had yet to awaken, still reeling from the soul-shattering impact just unleashed by Xuanqing. Even so, the sealing array continued to operate on its basic level.

He didn’t need to move a step to examine that nearby rift—what looked like a crack in the earth was actually the domain passage. He could only marvel that someone once designed such a “life-for-life” sealing method. “Whoever came up with that was a real damn genius.”

Qin Jingzhou intended to take his cheap son, body and soul, with him today. But Xuanqing, as the Main Coffin, had been sharing in the vast agony endured by all the connected Extraordinaries—the collision of matter and antimatter, that was the first layer of pain. After annihilation, a surge of energy was released, doubling the suffering. He could take his son, but leaving the others to languish was not something he could turn a blind eye to.

These were all worthy people who had willingly sacrificed their own lives to delay destruction.

He estimated things in his mind, then casually tossed the lower half of his son’s body to the ground and looked toward the Hua Country Extraordinary still standing by the cliff. “Go fetch me a chair.”

The Extraordinary’s eyes lit up. “Just a moment, sir!” He took to the air without hesitation.

Five minutes later, the Extraordinary lugged back a chair nearly the size of a minivan. He beamed. “I brought you the one from the duty room.”

Built hollow inside the mountain, this area boasted a complex of structures and facilities for Extraordinaries and their relatives. Before Xuanqing’s most recent eruption, there had always been one Extraordinarily-powerful watcher on shift, someone at least at the Nascent Soul stage.

Of course, now the entire duty building was deserted, mainly because three ultimate bosses had provoked Xuanqing into consecutively harming two of them… the kind of “injury” that forced immediate closed-door healing.

Luckily, Xuanqing’s body was sealed in the Main Coffin, rendering his spirit unable to stray beyond the range of the spiritual runes. Fortunately, he still had some rationality left and hadn’t killed anyone outright—otherwise, the losses might have been catastrophic.

Qin Jingzhou sat on the chair brought over by the Extraordinary—according to the Western world of Extraordinaries, this wide seat was carved with a high-level “purification” rune, sitting on it provided a mild cultivation bonus, quite a nice item for this world.

He patted the empty spot next to him. “Come sit.”

Ling Jing happily sat down, squeezing in shoulder-to-shoulder with Qin Jingzhou.

She’d experienced the chair’s effects and, not forgetting business, gave Qin Jingzhou a reminder, “Boss, look after your son.”

The berserk Xuanqing was frowning, awkwardly pawing at his own lower body, trying in vain to piece himself back together.

After advancing to the Foundation Establishment stage, neither body nor spirit being split in two was a fatal blow. For Xuanqing, who had endured pain for years and reached the Golden Core stage before entering the coffin, this was nothing. What bothered him was losing his lower half made flying a real chore.

Qin Jingzhou couldn’t help but find it funny. “First time I’ve seen someone lose IQ from going berserk!”

As he spoke, he conjured eight long spikes from thin air—solidified from spiritual energy and seemingly alive, they nailed Xuanqing’s bifurcated spirit tightly together.

Next, Qin Jingzhou reached out, casually hoisted his cheap son onto his shoulder, and with his other hand pinned the still-struggling boy in place, quietly starting to chant the Clear Tranquility Sutra with his formidable spiritual soul.

An indescribable voice echoing in the sea of consciousness followed—just eleven words, and half of the 577 comatose Extraordinaries snapped to awareness. The rest started remembering what had happened as he uttered the next line.

Job done. Might as well ferry this boat all the way.

He finished reciting the first part of the sutra, patiently and thoroughly. Of the 820 Extraordinaries, about half experienced an instantaneous epiphany, including his own cheap son.

Ling Jing, the seven remaining guardians, and even the main couple felt as if a bucket of enlightenment had been dumped over their heads. They were utterly dazed.

Qin Jingzhou waited for half an hour until his cheap son, slung over his shoulder, slowly turned his head to glance at him and muttered, “I really do look a lot like you…”

Since his son was sensible, he dropped his grip and let him float away.

Now, not only the Extraordinaries in the spiritual coffins but also the duty-bound ones, along with Gu Lingfan and Yuan Lingyi, all snapped back—after such an epiphany, it was rare for everyone to feel this lucid and refreshed.

Xuanqing rose before the crowd, encircling Qin Jingzhou a few times before finally facing him. “I lost my mind just now… thought you were here to break up me and Lingmei.”

Extraordinaries, Gu Lingfan, Yuan Lingyi: …

Ling Jing quickly shot Qin Jingzhou a look. “Not gonna lie, Boss, your son seems to have gone love-crazy when he lost control… but I think he can still be saved.”

Qin Jingzhou nodded, stood up, and walked over to the spiritual coffin containing Xuanqing’s mother, then demanded, “Is this how you’ve treated my son?”

Xuanqing’s mother, Xuan Helin, was speechless. She wasn’t unconcerned about her eldest son—she really was, but what terrified her even more was the power of her former lover… at least at the Nascent Soul stage! Back when they were together, she really thought he was just a handsome mortal!

Xuanqing’s stepfather, Zhong Dewen, spoke up for her. “It’s all my fault, I—”

But thanks to that recitation just now, every Extraordinary present owed Qin Jingzhou a favor. He was perfectly happy to use this as leverage. Cutting him off, Qin Jingzhou said, “Why should my son be the one to sacrifice? Did anyone ask me?”

Suspended in midair, Xuanqing’s head jerked up.

Hundreds of Extraordinaries blanched; they understood instantly. If Xuanqing’s father insisted on taking him, there was nothing any of them could do!

Ling Jing charged to Qin Jingzhou’s side, snatched up her spiritual sword, and in a few deft strikes pried open the main coffin.

Xuanqing’s body was pinned to the back wall of the Main Coffin by a spike covered in dense spiritual runes.

Qin Jingzhou peered inside, the workmanship so rough he didn’t know where to begin complaining.

Nothing to be done. The array’s original designer was a genius, but over a hundred years, who knows how many incompetent heirs had done shoddy work. “My son already had to endure extra pain and pressure as the Main Coffin. With this technique… the pain’s doubled, the efficiency’s halved.”

He flicked his finger lightly, and the spike embedded in Xuanqing’s brow turned to dust.

Xuanqing’s body tumbled forward, and with a gesture from Qin Jingzhou, son’s spirit and physical form neatly merged. In a practiced motion, he carried his son under his arm, flung out a handful of spiritual stones with his free hand, which swirled over the Main Coffin to form an indescribable symbol…

The seven Extraordinaries only glanced at that strange symbol before clutching their heads and crying out in agony.

Ling Jing, being shrewd, when she saw their reactions, simply chose not to look. She figured the boss would explain it to her later.

And Qin Jingzhou did. “That’s an Energy-Sealing Array. It blocks energy transfer. For most sects, it’s been lost for ages.”

The Extraordinaries present were shocked—since the array had been lost, their elders had only bits and pieces of its concept, so they’d tried to cobble together something similar using whatever legacy details and resources they had!

Inside the spiritual coffins, the Extraordinaries communicated through spirit runes, and the one in the coffin nearest the Main Coffin spoke up. “Senior, you…”

He was, aside from Xuanqing, the highest-ranked among them.

Carrying his cheap son, Qin Jingzhou headed out, withdrawing some wood-type spiritual energy to swirl over the hollow in his son’s brow. “Just treat this as a returning hero coming home.”

Ling Jing followed.

The seven Extraordinaries could only watch helplessly as they left.

After a while, Yuan Lingyi whispered to her boyfriend Gu Lingfan, “Wait a minute, this isn’t how we pictured it at all!”

The Extraordinary who’d fetched the chair came over to the young couple. “Come with me, I have questions for you.” They couldn’t deal with a heavenly big shot, but two bratty kids—they could handle that!

Once they had walked out of the cave covered in spiritual runes, Qin Jingzhou summoned his spiritual sword. He flipped his hand, kept his son slung over his shoulder, hopped onto the broad blade, and invited Ling Jing, “Coming?”

Ling Jing didn’t hesitate. “Of course!”

As soon as they were settled, Qin Jingzhou began sending her a secret voice transmission. Some things were simply not for his cheap son to hear. “Are this world’s male and female protagonists a problem too?”

Ling Jing responded immediately, “Yes… Boss, the plot you got, was it about this little couple just now?”

“Yes.”

Ling Jing’s smile faltered a bit. “In my script, those two are actually the ultimate villains…”

At that, System couldn’t help but jump in. “Brother Zhou, isn’t this the classic ‘the hero defeats the dragon, only to become the new dragon’ loop all over again?”

Qin Jingzhou sighed, quickly relaying the plot he’d received to Ling Jing.

Ling Jing was quiet for a while, then genuinely moved. She glanced at Xuanqing, who hung over the boss’s shoulder, deep in thought. “It’s just heartbreaking.”

Qin Jingzhou gently lifted his cheap son’s chin, noting that the bloody hole in his brow was healing rapidly. He said frankly, “To be honest, I’m soft-hearted too. I even spent my own resources to lay down the Energy-Sealing Array for him.”

Ling Jing consoled him. “Boss, ever since you said ‘Did anyone ask me about sacrificing my son,’ he’s been extra well-behaved. You’re carrying him around like this and he’s not even struggling—he probably feels awful but he won’t say so…”

Qin Jingzhou blinked. “He’s a cultivator, he’s not that delicate.” But since Ling Jing mentioned it, he decided to be considerate. With another motion, he shifted his son from over his shoulder into a… princess carry.

Xuanqing blinked, caught off guard by the sudden face-to-face contact with his birth father.

He still couldn’t hear the secret conversation between Qin Jingzhou and Ling Jing, had no idea what was going on, and didn’t know what to say. He could only stare wide-eyed at his father.

No matter if he was wedged under his father’s arm, slung over a shoulder, or cradled in a princess carry, he never once struggled.

Ling Jing had to say, “He’s so ridiculously obedient. Did he really go berserk?”

Qin Jingzhou thought for a bit. “He’s starved for love, that’s why he’s… love-obsessed, like you said. What do you think? If I treat him nicely, what will become of him? Anyway, I calculated just now, the two soul fragments on him and Yuan Lingyi—if I gather them up, I should be able to bring Yuan Lingmei back to life.”

In this world of equally strong Extraordinaries, only destruction of both spirit and body counted as true death.

Joking, he added, “I wonder what choice he’ll make—Dad or girlfriend, who does he love more?”

Ling Jing burst out laughing. “An adult would say: why not both?”

The two of them were just joking and laughing when a furious shout sounded behind them. “Leave him here!”

Qin Jingzhou executed an abrupt stop; the spiritual sword hung steady in the air. Cradling his son, he looked toward the incoming high-energy fireball and said, “Son, today your father will give you a personal demonstration—how to use the Ten Thousand Swords Technique properly.”

Even as he spoke, spiritual energy surged around him, instantly condensing into countless shining spirit swords. The swords were packed so densely he looked like a less-bright sun.

Xuanqing was dazzled by the sea of sudden swords. He turned and gingerly put his hand on his father’s shoulder, softly responding, “Okay.”
